Dynasty: do the new actors look like those of the 1980s series? (PICTURES)

Less than a year after the broadcast of season 4, the fifth and final season of Dynasty landed on Netflix Saturday, September 24. Fans were eagerly awaiting this final season. It must be said that the previous one ended on a huge cliffhanger. As Liam and Fallon finally began to reunite, the Carrington clan heiress was shot by her husband’s psychopathic assistant. The latter could not bear that Liam did not succumb to her charm. Because of this, she decided to interrupt the party in honor of Blake Carrington with a weapon. In these new episodes of Dynasty posted on the streaming platform, which features an unfortunate oversight from Netflix, viewers finally found out if Fallon succumbed to the shooting. But of course, the series could not have continued without the excellent Elizabeth Gillies, who perfectly embodies the daughter of Blake Carrington. But does she look like the actress who played this role in the 1980s?

Dynasty : Does the Carrington family of the reboot resemble that of the cult series of the 1980s?

If Fallon Carrington was embodied, initially, by Pamela Sue Martin in the 1980s, she is now interpreted by Elizabeth Gillies. Although they don’t look alike physically, the two actresses perfectly played the daughter of Blake Carrington and his first wife, Alexis, who is constantly at odds with her father’s second wife. Unlike the original series in which Fallon marries Jeff Colby, the pretty redhead has succumbed to the charms of Liam Ridley-Lowden (Adam Huber), a budding writer, whom she is going to marry. This is also one of the main roles not to be based on a character from the cult series.

As for Blake Carrington, the patriarch of the family, he was embodied by John Forsythe in the original series and is now portrayed by Grant Show. If, in the reboot, the oil baron is slightly rejuvenated, the character traits remain the same. Indeed, he was initially a ruthless man, both in business and with his family. Nonetheless, the character mellowed over the seasons and became a far more benevolent patriarchal figure due to the influence of his second wife, Krystle (Cristal in the reboot). If Al Corley then Jack Coleman lent their features to Steven, the son of Blake Carrington in the original series, the role was attributed to James Mackay in the reboot. Unlike cult fiction, the character is brown and only has relationships with men. He even has a rocky relationship with Sam Jones, the cousin of Cristal Flores. Finally, Blake Carrington’s first wife, Alexis, an attractive brunette, was embodied by the icon Joan Collins. But in the Netflix version, Alexis is blond and is played by Nicolette Sheridan in the first two seasons, before being replaced by Elaine Hendrix.

These major changes in the reboot of Dynasty

Huge changes have been made in the reboot of the cult series, starting with the character of Krystle, played by Linda Evans. In the Netflix fiction, Blake’s second wife is now of Latin origin, is called Cristal Flores Carrington and is played by Nathalie Kelley in the first season, by Ana Brenda Contreras in the second, and finally by Daniella Alonso. As for Jeff Colby who was played by John James, a white actor, the character has been reinvented as a black man and is played by Sam Adegoke. In the new version, Jeff is the brother of Monica Colby and the son of Cesil Colby and Dominique Deveraux, the half-sister of Blake Carrington.

Another character from the cult 1980s series has also been reimagined. And this is Sammy Jo Carrington (Heather Locklear), Krystle’s niece and Steven Carrington’s wife. In the reboot, the character is embodied by Rafael de la Fuente. He lends his features to Sam Jones, a gay man who will fall under the spell of Steven Carrington, before having an affair with other men. If Michael Culhane was played by Wayne Northtrop in the original series, he is now played by a black actor, Robert Christopher Riley. However, the story remains the same: Blake Carrington’s driver has an affair with Fallon, which quickly ends. However, the character of the original version quickly disappears to return in the seventh season, while that of the reboot is one of the main characters and even becomes the owner of a football team. If Dynasty ends at the end of season 5, fans hope Netflix will save the seriesas she did for Manifest Where Lucifer.
