New back-to-school series, House of the Dragon ignite the fans of Game Of Thrones, happy to find Westeros and these seven kingdoms. The program thus takes place several hundred years before the events experienced by Daenerys and Jon Snow and is therefore carried by a whole new cast. But where have you seen the actors before? We tell you everything.
Paddy Considine – Viserys Targaryen
Intimidating King Viserys Targaryen in House of the Dragon, Paddy Considine is a regular on the small screen. Recently, viewers have been able to see it in the HBO series The Outsider and The Third Daybut also in Inform. In 2013, the 49-year-old actor had also made a remarkable passage on the side of Peaky Blinderswhere he played Father John Hughes in the course of season 3. In the cinema, he appeared in English comedies like pride by Matthew Warchus Dead’s Man Shoes by Shane Meadows or even The last pub before the end of the world by Edgar Wright.
Matt Smith – Daemon Targaryen
Famous for portraying the iconic doctor in the series Doctor Who between 2010 and 2014, Matt Smith continued his rise on the small screen with The Crown, where he lent his features to Prince Philip in the first two seasons. After that, fans were able to find him in the cinema in various films such as Last Night in Soho of Edgar Wright, in which he gives the reply to Anya Taylor-Joy, and Morbius by Daniel Espinoza, where he plays the role of Milo.
Rhys Ifans – Otto Hightower in House of the Dragon
If he plays the precious hand of the king here, Rhys Ifans has chained roles as serious as eccentric throughout his career. The 55-year-old Welsh actor is most famous for playing the goofy roommate of William Thacker (Hugh Grant) in Love at first sight in Notting Hill as well as the father of Luna Lovegood in the saga Harry Potter. Also a fan of villainous roles, the actor has also slipped into the skin of Dr. Curt Connors – also called the Lizard – in the franchise. The Amazing Spider-Man by Marc Webb and in that of the terrible Rasputin in The King’s Man: First Mission by Matthew Vaughn. As for lovers of British comedy, they will certainly remember him as the incomparable Gavin in Good Morning England by Richard Curtis.
Emma d’Arcy – Rhanyra Targaryen
At 30, Emma D’Arcy has already distinguished herself in several programs on the small screen, starting with the series Truth Seekers in which she interpreted Astrid in 2020. At the same time, the spectators could see her in Hana the same year or still in the film Miss Revolution by Phillipa Lowthorpe. In 2018, the young British actress was also in the cast of Wanderlustwhere she camped a certain Naomi Richards.
Steve Toussaint – Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon
British actor from the island of Barbados, Steve Toussaint has made numerous television and film appearances over the past 30 years. In 2010, he camped Seso in the film Prince of Persia by Mike Newell and also starred in the series doctors, in which he lent his features to Mike Trent. Between Berlin Station, Doctor Who, Inspector Lewis or murders in paradiseviewers therefore had the opportunity to see him in various and varied fiction programs, until discovering him in 2022 in the costume of Corlys Velaryon.
Eve Best – Rhaenys Velaryon
While camping the fearsome Rhaenys Velaryon here, Eve Best recently starred in the Netflix series Destiny: The Winx Saga, in which she played the director of Alfea, Farah Dowling. Prior to that, Eve Best had made a name for herself as Dr. Eleanor O’Hara in Nurse Jackie between 2009 and 2015, but also with that of Anna Clayton in luckyman. On the big screen, the British actress appeared in The speech of a king by Tom Hooper alongside Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter.
Fabien Frankel – Ser Criston Cole in House of the Dragon
28-year-old Fabien Frankel is still at the start of his acting career, although he has already appeared in several fiction programs. Recently the British actor of French origin landed a role in the film Last Christmas with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, but was especially noticed in the Netflix series The snake, in which he lent his features to Dominique Renelleau alongside Tahar Rahim. the adventure House of the Dragon allows him to continue his Hollywood ascent by entering the incredible fantasy universe of George RR Martin.
Sonoya Mizuno – Mysaria
First a British model and ballerina of Japanese origin, Sonoya Mizuno started her acting career a decade ago by landing minor roles in films such as Ex-Machina by Alex Garland La La Land by Damien Chazelle The beauty and the Beast by Bill Condon or in Crazy Rich Asians by Jon M. Chu. In 2018, also appeared in the series maniac with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, in which she played Dr. Azumi Fujita. More recently, FX viewers were able to find her in Devs, Alex Garland’s sci-fi mini-series, before discovering her as Mysaria in House of the Dragon.
Olivia Cooke – Alicent Hightower
Revealed by the series Bates Motel in which she camped Emma Decody, Olivia Cooke has since multiplied the projects on the big screen. While she started out with movies like The silent souls by Jane Harper, This Is Not A Love Story by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and Katie Says Goodbye by Wayne Roberts, the 28-year-old also starred in her first blockbuster in 2018 with Ready Player One by Steven Spielberg. On the television side, the actress has also landed roles in Modern Lovethen Slow Horses where she shares the poster in 2022 with Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott-Thomas.
Milly Alcock – Rhaenyra Targaryen
Aged 22, Millie Alcock already has a few years of career behind her, having made her screen debut at just 14 years old. Since his first experience in wonderlandthe Australian actress has landed roles in numerous series, such as Pine Gap, HighLife, The Gloaming, Reckoning Where upright. Although House of the Dragon is therefore not his first project, the prequel series of Game Of Thrones remains, however, his first major role in a major program and should certainly serve as a springboard to the international scene.
