Produced and filmed between Mexico and Argentina, by Telemundo Streaming Studios/Underground Producciones; The new 9-part miniseries marks the long-awaited return of acclaimed Mexican actor Fernando Colunga (¨Maria la del Barrio¨, ¨Marimar¨) to the screens after his last participation in ¨Pasión y poder¨ in 2016.
WHAT IS “THE SECRET OF THE GRECO FAMILY” ABOUT?
Inspired by real events and based on the Argentine series “Historia de un Clan”, created by Luis and Sebastián Ortega, who was also an executive producer, along with Pablo Culell, responsible for hits such as “El Marginal”, “Diario de un Gigoló” and “100 Days to Fall in Love”. The series is located in “True Crimes” and “1980s”.
The story focuses on the Grecos, during the 1980s in Jalisco, Mexico, who under the facade of being a traditional family hide being a clan of criminals who kidnap, torture and murder their victims if they do not get the ransom in cash. led by Aquiles Greco (Colunga), a retired officer who is disciplined and authoritarian, willing to do anything to maintain his family’s status. Marta Ochoa (Lisa Owen), his wife, is an ambitious woman who belonged to a “well-off” social class and was the key that allowed Aquiles to access certain circles of power and prestige. As a result of the strong economic crisis unleashed by the outgoing government, the family business was mortally “wounded” and from that moment on, the Ochoa fortune began a downward path. The marriage has four children: Darío, Sabrina, Abril, and Andrés “Andy”, the exemplary son.
Achilles’ need not to lose his status and continue to “belong”, to give his family a last name that continues to be worthy of respect, will gradually reveal his lack of prejudice. This is the moment when he does not hesitate to resort to criminal methods to achieve his goal.
Aquiles Greco gives in to his ambition and unleashes the psychopath within him.
