In this month of December, Netflix is freezing our blood with a Spanish magnetic thriller titled The curved lines of God (Los renglones torcidos de Dios in original version). The feature film had already benefited from a theatrical release in front of the Spanish public, totaling nearly 5 million euros in revenue. Today, this film directed by a big name in suspense cinema Oriol Paulol (The Accused) and adapted from the eponymous novel by Torcuato Luca de Tena, seems to be appealing to Netflix subscribers, judging by the first impressions of Internet users. The story follows the character of Alice, a private detective who voluntarily enters a mental hospital pretending to suffer from paranoia in order to extract evidence from a case she works for.
A psychological thriller that turns the brains of subscribers
Alice, played by actress Bárbara Lennie seen in 2019 in the series After you, chaos on Netflix, investigates the disappearance of a patient, found dead in disturbing circumstances. But by infiltrating this psychiatric unit, she is still unaware that she risks losing her mental health there too. What plunge Internet users into a similar state: “If you like enigmatic thrillers to turn your brain around, and that you liked Shutter IslandI recommend The Curved Lines of God on Netflix, it’s amazing“, “A marvel of handling“, “The film not to be missed, thrilling, captivating to the end, of very great cinema“, can we read in particular on Twitter. Many comments also seem to indicate that some Internet users have not managed to assemble all the pieces of the puzzle, lost between lies, manipulations and pretense.

Subscribers duped until the last second
“I loved it, but I didn’t understand the ending“, “I did not understand the end what the fuck“, write for example two members of the social network. This puzzle, however, does not detract from the genius of this feature film, which another Internet user considers to be “one of the best films of this year”. But then, is Alice fooled by the system or is she the real psychopath in this story? To disentangle the true from the false, everyone goes there with their little theory. “For me, she fooled everyone“, “In fact, she realizes that she is really paranoid and that from the beginning everything she said is completely false (…) And that finally, the person she thought she was working for was her doctor.“, analyze other subscribers. “A real feat, the end raises questions, but what a film!“, sums up another fan, who has obviously adhered to the scenario. It is now up to you to establish your own conclusions on this affair.

Netflix spoils us at the end of the year with first Guillermo del Toro’s wonderful Pinocchio, a beautiful and moving reinvention of a well-known tale. And then with The Curved Lines of God, a new little marvel of manipulation by Oriol Paulo. pic.twitter.com/GnAPDkiQk2

it’s simple, in fact she realizes that she is really paranoid and that in fact from the beginning everything she said is completely false, so the director was right about AZ. And that ultimately the person she thought she was working for was her doctor.
