prisoners
Looking for a really good thriller? Look no further: Prisoners has been available for a few days on Prime Video and it’s probably exactly what you need. This shock film released in 2013 is already a great classic of the genre, coming to us in particular from the great Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Premier Contact, Sicario). Once again, the Canadian did not skimp on the means and provides us here with a five-star cast: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Paul Dano… There are clearly people on the bill. And especially, the plot, the rhythm and the heavy and breathless atmosphere – two fathers of families go in search of their respective daughter, who has disappeared in a small town in Pennsylvania – prove to be monstrous in their effectiveness, which has marked millions of people throughout the world. red iron. In short, if you want to (re)make this nugget, the opportunity is all found.

Celebrity Hunted: Manhunt, Season 2 (Prime Video Original reality series)

Building on the success of the first season, Amazon is doing it again and here is Season 2 of Celebrity Hunter, a reality TV series aimed at French audiences. The principle is simple: several teams of well-known personalities in France form teams of fugitives, whose goal is to flee by all means. On their heels, “hunters” made up of experts in cybersecurity, profiling and other investigative professionals who will try to lay their hands on them! On the celebrity side, we therefore find McFly and Carlito, Michou and Inox Tag, Jenifer and Harry, Fadily Camara and Hakim Jemily, dropped across France for their more or less incredible situations. It may well appeal to some.

Something From Tiffany’s (Prime Video Original Movie)

It’s the very end of the year and we clearly can’t cut it: romantic comedies are legion and Prime Video was not going to miss the boat. So here is Something From Tiffany’s, a cute movie fully adapted from the eponymous novel. The story is that of a woman in New York in the middle of Manhattan who sees her destiny turned upside down by an engagement ring… belonging to someone else. Against all expectations, this leads her to the man who could well be the love of her life: well, we are on something quite classic, but which could warm the little hearts of many viewers. If this kind of feature film arrives en masse during the Christmas holidays, it is not for nothing: it’s cold outside and comforting yourself in front of a movie with a good mood ambient, two meters from a small crackling fire (or rather a radiator with hot breath for most) is always a good idea. Come on, why not.

Sicario

Dennis Villeneuve is definitely very strong. The Canadian director has an ultra-respectable filmography, having notably produced the very powerful Prisoners which we spoke to you about above: here, Sicario takes us to the border area between the United States of America and Mexico, with the cartel war in the background. We follow in particular the misadventures of Kate (Emily Blunt), a young FBI recruit, who will go to dismantle organized crime alongside several formidable collaborators, embodied by a terrifying Benicio Del Toro and an imposing Josh Brolin. A ruthless and breathtaking film, this little gem released in 2015 and to be seen and reviewed: its arrival on Prime Video is undoubtedly excellent news. Jump on it.

The Spanish Inn / Russian Dolls / Chinese Puzzle

Among the great French directors, we can easily cite Cédric Klapisch, who hasn’t been on his first attempt for a long time. His trilogy, which began with L’Auberge Espagnole (released in 2002), followed by Russian Dolls (2005) and Chinese Puzzle (2013), is one of his most famous works. It all starts in Barcelona, where Xavier (Domain Duris) goes to live to finish his studies and learn Spanish: he ends up coming across a huge flatshare, shared with seven other people, all from a different country. Beautiful life stories, both touching and amusing, embodied by Duris but also by tenors of French cinema such as Cécile de France, Audrey Tautou, but also internationals such as the Englishman Kelly Reilly. In short, a safe bet.

Jack Ryan, Season 3 (Prime Video Original Series)

Three years after its first season, Jack Ryan returns for a still eventful season 3. So be careful, this is not the Jack Ryan played by Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford or Chris Pine, but another adaptation of this cult character from the imagination of Tom Clancy. For once, it is John Crasinski who slips into the skin of the famous analyst at the CIA, responsible for dismantling a network of terrorists. Only then, not only is his mission far from simple and takes him into dangerous situations, but his tumultuous past with the Marines in Afghanistan makes him a complex and formidable character. In short, a series full of action as we like them, no headache and which therefore continues with a new season of eight episodes.

Brightburn

Birghtburn is a frankly interesting film on paper: what would have happened if Superman… was mean and totally psychopathic? This is what this feature film by David Yarovesky (The Hive) offers which, if it does not have the rights of DC Comics, therefore establishes a base similar to Clark Kent: in the American countryside, a couple discovers a baby in a space capsule, which they decide to raise as their own son (the child, not the capsule). At the age of twelve, little Brandon then discovers supernatural powers… but gradually turns very badly, discovering more of a penchant for torture and vice than for going to save citizens. A rather dark and very violent action-horror film whose concept is worth seeing.

Peacemaker

Initiated in The Suicide Squad, the character of Peacemaker therefore has the right to his own series, exclusively on Prime Video. Creation comes to us again from James Gunn and as one might expect, this superhero embodied by John Cena is still in irreverence, absurdity and brutal action. A frankly funny and explosive series whose returns are frankly good, and following in particular the events of The Suicide Squad, therefore taking place in the DC Universe. If you like action comedies with a lot of second degree, you’ve come to the right place and Peacemaker has a good chance of treating you as it should. See you at the very end of the year!
