The plot

When a young married couple (Michael Ealy and Meagan Good) buy their dream home in Napa Valley, they think they have found the perfect home to take their next steps as a family. But when the strangely pushy salesman (Dennis Quaid) continues to creep into their lives, they begin to suspect the man has hidden motives beyond placing a quick sale.

  • Deon Taylor directs “The Intruder” from a screenplay by David Loughery who wrote the action in the 1980s. Passenger 57 – High altitude terror with Wesley Snipes, Star Trek V – The Final Frontier and horror Dreamscape – Escape into the nightmare which in the distant 1984 saw Dennis Quaid as its protagonist. More recently Loughery has signed the thrillers Shattered And Fatal – Double deception, the latter directed by Taylor.
  • Director Deon Taylor previously directed the not-so-memorable Meet the Blacksan embarrassing and coarse parody of the series The Judgment Night which also benefited from a sequel The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2, released in 2021 with Taylor still directing. Taylor’s other credits include thrillers Traffik (2010), The law of the strongest (2019) and the aforementioned “Fatale – Double deception” (2020).
  • The house used in the film was also used in the films Adaline – Eternal youth (2015) with Blake Lively and previously served as the family home in the thriller In Their Skin by Selma Blair (2012). The same house was used for Cheryl’s house in the TV series Riverdale.
  • In this film Dennis Quaid plays the psychopath who terrifies the couple who bought his old house. In Dark appearances in Cold Creek (2003), Quaid played the husband of the couple who bought Stephen Dorff’s old house and is later terrified of Dorff.
  • Michael Ealy and Meagan Good have already starred together in Think Like a Man (2012) and its sequel.
  • This isn’t the first time Dennis Quaid has played a Napa Valley resident. He previously played Nick Parker in Trapped parents (1998), a Napa Valley resident who owned his own vineyard.
  • Michael Ealy and Joseph Sikora have already starred together in the horror thriller Jacob’s Ladder (2019), a remake of the film Perverse hallucination of 1990.
  • When Charlie is taking Annie upstairs, he says, “We’ve had this date from the beginning.”. This is what Stanley tells Blanche in A tram called Desiderio (1951) shortly before raping her.
  • When Dennis Quaid was filmed breaking down the bedroom door, he kept saying “I’m quiiiii Charlie!”, A reference to a similar scene in the film Shining, in which Jack Nicholson smashes the bathroom door with an ax and peeks through the hole in the door exclaiming, “Oh-oh! Is there anyone? Hey! Is anybody here? Hey, people! Hey! Is anyone here? ”, Just to break the tension on set, making everyone laugh.
  • The intruder cost “only” 8 million dollars and grossed about 36 million dollars worldwide.
