Did Jason Carver die on Netflix’s fourth season of “Stranger Things”? It is coming

We did it, nerd. We successfully held out until the release of the fourth season of Stranger Things, vol. 2. The Duffer Brothers – brilliant as they may be – really punished us when they made us wait three full years for season 4. With seven episodes, vol. 1 of the nostalgic science fiction series premiered on May 27, 2022. Vol. 2 consists of two episodes lasting a feature film and premiered on July 1, 2022.

While beloved regulars like Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Steve ( Joe Keery) – whose hair is to die for – return to defeat Hawkins’ new villain – aka humanoid monster Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) – Season 4 welcomes a new set of characters.

From eccentric Hellfire Club president Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) to great athlete Jason Carver (Mason Dye), Season 4 is chock full of new faces. The latter is a handsome, blond-haired, blue-eyed basketball player boy who thinks the “weird” Eddie Munson killed his cheerleader girlfriend, Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien). His character is very 80s, right down to Hawkins’ letterman jacket. Many wonder if he gets a horrible death in season 4, vol. 2.

Admittedly, Jason’s death is arguably one of the most satisfying deaths of season 4. Although he only started out as a hateful and arrogant caricature of a Ken doll, he ends up handing out threats violent enough to grow our contempt for him. He absolutely does not survive the wrath of Vecna; good release!

While some feel Jason’s death was disappointing, seeing his insides literally melt gave us some pleasure. (Are we bad people?) His death may not be tangled or well planned, but it’s as satisfying and stupid as he is.

Season 4, episode 9 – titled “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback” – sees Jason holding poor Lucas at gunpoint and trampling on Max’s cassette player – which prevents her from hearing his life-saving Vecna-proof song: “Running. Up “by Kate Bush That Hill.” Thankfully, Lucas is able to dodge the bullet and take Jason down. Not before a huge fist fight, of course.

Lucas eventually manages to knock Jason out cold with several punches to the face. And while Jason is unconscious, the Upside Down begins to bleed into Hawkins with him lying through the exact crack in the earth through which the alternate dimension passes.

Not only is his body literally split in half, but it melts through a magma-like substance. That’s what that psycho bastard deserves. Kudos to Mason Dye for playing such a nasty character with grit and truthfulness.

Stranger Things seasons 1 through 4 are currently streaming on Netflix.
