Rick and Morty season 6 episode 2 opens with a group of teenagers prowling outside a grocery store. They are approached by a boy who is distributing leaflets for a rally. They worship a psychopath named Roy who says he’s everyone’s grandfather. It turns out that Morty was playing the video game “Roy: A Life Well Lived”, in which players live an entire life as a certain Roy, when the game room was attacked by terrorists and the electricity was cut off. To the end of episode 2 of season 6 of Rick and Morty, they arrive in the real world just in time to help Summer fight off the aliens. Summer defeats the aliens while reading “Die Hard”. As a result, she manages to outmatch them and the trio manage to kill the group. After recovering Morty’s consciousness and ending the conflict with the aliens, Rick, Morty, and Summer decide to return home.

However, Rick pays the arcade staff to keep the game running while Marta lives her days inside. The fact that Rick chooses to save Marta, who is only a fraction of Morty, implies that he really cares about Morty. Thus, Rick proves Marta’s original belief wrong, and she finds comfort in the fact that she did the right thing by allowing everyone to leave the game.
