The beginning of a dark tale
What is revived on the screen with a dark and for many moments chilling narrative that focuses its first minutes on Glenda Cleveland (Niecy Nash), Jeffrey Dahmer’s neighbor.
The one that always makes him notice that a terrible smell emanates from his apartment, which he attributes to rotting meat or the pet fish that died unexpectedly. But the truth is otherwise.
Which takes place after he invites young people into his home, drugs them, murders them and dismembers them. Until one of them escapes, returning to the police who arrest him for attempted murder.
However, it is more than that, as corroborated by the photos and remains of his victims in the apartment. In addition to his own confession, at which time the story travels to his childhood in the 1960s.
When he witnessed the continuous fights of his parents, but also his father taught him about anatomy by dissecting animals, to later face a lonely youth marked by alcohol.
A narrative between different decades
Where he went from living with his grandmother in the 1980s to the apartment where he committed most of his murders in the early 1990s, as shown by some of the many time jumps in the story.
Different flashbacks that reveal a dysfunctional family, how he was left alone at 18 after his parents’ divorce, along with his failed steps through the university and the army, and his first crime.
To which nine years later would be added new and bloody murders of young people, in addition to necrophilia and cannibalism that they were also part of Dahmer’s psychopathic personality.
Next to wrong police actionclearly guided by the fact that Dahmer was white, which at one point had two officers take one of the victims back to his apartment.
In the extensive development of a narrative marked by the darkness of the mind and the sick actions of one of the worst serial killers of the 20th centurywhere the disturbing performance of Peters is key.
